7 months

She is now 7 months (On August 30th). She weighs 13 pounds 15 ounces, and is 2 feet tall.

What she can do now:
blow raspberries (she LOVES doing this)
likes to make a growl sound
sits without support for up to a minute
switch things from hand to hand
shakes her rattle and hits it against her side to make it make sound
stands up on her feet with support
pounds her hands on objects to make a loud bang
throws crayons in her desk holes
throws things on the floor

Her favorite things:
playing with her cousin, Mariah
Puppy's World (book)
Curious George (cartoon)
Its a Big Big World (cartoon)
music (any kind)
animals (dogs, cats and monkeys)
playing patty cake
going for rocket rides
peek-a-boo

She went to see her GI doctor yesterday and they told us we could start feeding her solid food! We gave her some butternut squash and she did take 2 VERY small tastes and did not make a "yucky" face. We tried again this morning and she took a few more VERY small tastes. I do not think she knows how to open her mouth up to eat yet. I think we will be able to get her in to see a speech therapist at Phoenix Children's Hospital on a weekly basis. They called and said they have a opening (we were on the waiting list). They have not called back to verify so we will see what happens (keeping my fingers crossed). She saw her lung doctor, Dr. Stilwell and he said she sounded great and they turned her oxygen down to 0.1 liters again. She has another appointment on September 24th. I have a feeling that they will take her off her oxygen on this appointment. She is breathing REALLY well. She in not contracting where you can see her ribs anymore and she is breathing between 25-45 breaths per minute. She is still on the apnea monitor but she has not had any episodes in 4 months. If she does get off the oxygen she will have to be hooked up to a pulse oximeter which will monitor her oxygen saturation and if she is above 90% for 90% of the time she is tested (usually overnight for 8-12 hours) then she will be able to be off oxygen.

They switched her medicine yesterday from the prevacid to nexium. The prevacid might have been contributing to her throwing up. She is still on the Axid, gas medicine, iron, a diuretic. She usually throws up 2-6 times a day. It is usually is 2 times in the morning and 2 times in the afternoon/evening. This is from her acid reflux. We have not really seen any improvement with her acid reflux.

She is still 100% NG tube fed. She is getting 28 CCs every hour for 24 hours a day. We will be increasing over the next 2 week to 30 CCs every hour for 24 hours a day.

She is 1/2 year old (6 months)!! 6 months on July 30

What she can do now:
grabs objects by opening and closing her hands
play with her toys
pet the dogs
turns book pages on command
calls me "ninny"
talks in her baby language
whines when she does not get what she wants
She went to her feed and swallow study. They diagnosed her with oral aversions, and recommend a speech therapist for feeding. We have been working with her at home and doing some exercises and massage with her. This has helped a tiny bit. She has taken a few soft sucks on her bottle! It as been VERY difficult to get a therapist :(

Last week we had a few scares. We think she had an allergic reaction to her new medicine (zantac). Her body temperature dropped to 97.3 she was ice cold and sweating a lot. Her heart rate and breathing also dropped. Just as we were going to take her into the ER (at 2:30 am), everything returned to normal? They switched that medicine to Axid (so far so good). We also had to rush her back to her doctors at Phoenix Children's Hospital to get checked out. She is getting food into her lungs again, and they had to turn her oxygen up again (.2 liters per minute), so she will not be getting off this month. It will take at least 2 more months if all goes well.

Overall, she is doing good. She had those few set backs, but overall she is on a upward trend to getting better.

Happy 4th of July

I started a book study group on Bernie Berlin ATC book. It is going great! I was looking for a book study like this but I could not find one so I started my own. This is a ATC that I did for a July swap. It is a folk art flag transfered onto sheet music. The sheet music is "My Country". I just stiched around the edges for some added interest.

It has been a while.....

Wow! I have not posted in a while. I got VERY sick with pre-eclampsia while pregnant. I had to put everything on hold. My little girl was born on January 30 2007. 2 months early. She turned 5 months old yesterday.

ATC with a music theme.

Pointy Hat

ATC with a pointy hat theme.

Vintage

This is a ATC for a vintage theme. I antiqued the metal frame around Dream and used vintage lace.

Dog Days of Summer

This is a ATC for a themed swap. The theme is dog days of summer. I drew the dog and painted/drew the background. The image was painted over and altered to "fit" into the color scheme of the ATC.
